平素は協会運営に際し、格別のご高配を賜り厚く御礼申し上げます。
この度、駐大阪・神戸米国総領事館に新たにリチャード・メイ総領事がご着任されました。
早速事務局にて、ご挨拶にお伺いいたしましたので皆様にご報告申し上げます。
リチャード・メイ総領事は、広報・文化交流を専門とする上級外交官で、多数の大使館に勤務のご経験があり、過去日本にも赴任されております。そして、47都道府県全てを訪れていらっしゃるということで、大変流暢な日本語を話される知日派です。大阪日米協会の活動にも興味を持っていただき、現在はコロナの影響で一時的に日米の往来が止まっておりますが、両国の懸け橋となり今後益々の日米の友好、親善の発展を強く願われており、当協会 会員の皆様ともお会いできる日を楽しみにされておりました。
事務局といたしましては、会員の皆様とメイ総領事、そして日米両国の更なる親睦の為に尽力してまいる所存ですので、今後とも皆様のご理解とご協力の程お願い申しあげます。

We hope this message finds you well. Thank you very much for your continuous support of JASO.
Mr. Richard Mei assumed New Consul General in American Consulate General Osaka-Kobe in September. The other day, executive office members visited him for greeting.
Mr. Richard Mei is a senior diplomat who specializes in PR and cultural exchange. He has worked in many embassies and also worked in Japan. He has been to every 47 prefecture and speaks Japanese fluently.
Moreover, he is interested in JASO activities. Now, the US-Japan movement stops temporally, because of the pandemic Covid-19, but he wishes to be a mediator in the US-Japan relationship and is looking forward to gathering JASO members.
We would like to make efforts to develop more solid US-Japan friendship.
We appreciate for your understanding and cooperation.

さて、ご承知の通り、新型コロナウィルス感染症は緊急事態宣言解除後、再び新規感染者が増加傾向にあり、感染経路が未だ明確に判明していない状況であります。このことから不特定多数の方が集まる行事を実施することについては、感染の危険性が危惧されており、現状を総合的に勘案致しました結果、当協会では、2020年度の総会開催を見送り、理事による書面決議を実施致しましたので、その結果についてご報告申し上げます。
また、2020年10月に延期しておりました「2020年度(総会)懇親会」、例年11月に開催しております在日米国商工会議所との合同開催「感謝祭」につきましても、本年は誠に残念ながら開催中止とさせていただくことに決定致しましたので併せてご連絡申し上げます。
事務局といたしましてもイベント中止は苦渋の決断ではございましたが、参加者、関係者の皆様の健康・安全面を第一に考慮し中止を決定させていただきました。楽しみにしてくださっていた皆様には、誠に申し訳ございませんが、何卒ご理解いただきますようよろしくお願い申し上げます。

We hope this message finds you well. Thank you very much for your continuous support of JASO.
As all you know, the number of Covid-19 infected people tend to be increasing again after the emergency declaration was lifted and the route of infection is still unknown. Therefore, it is dangerous to conduct events where lots of people gather and considering this situation, we cancelled 2020 General Meeting and did resolution in writing by directors. We would like to report the results below.
Also, we regret to inform you that we decided to cancel “2020 Reception” in October and “Thanksgiving Party” which is co-hosted with ACCJ in November.
It was painful for us to cancel events, but we took into consideration everyone’s health and safety. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank everyone for your understanding and cooperation.

さて、ご承知の通り、新型コロナウイルス感染症拡大に伴い、現在も多くのイベントや集会が中止、或いは延期となっております。当協会におきましても、予定しておりました３月のフィールドトリップは延期、４月のアーリントンカップ観戦ツアーにつきましては残念ながら中止とさせていただきました。また、例年７月に開催を致しております「理事会・総会・懇親会」おきましても、現状を鑑みて本年度に関しましては、例年とは異なる対応および運営をさせていただきたく、その為、一部会則の改定がございましたことも併せてご報告させていただきます。皆さまの健康・安全を守るため、ご理解・ご協力を賜りますよう何卒宜しくお願い申し上げます。

現行会則内容に、天災事変その他のやむを得ない状況においての対応記載が無いため、大阪日米協会会則第
17条に基づき、書面決議による臨時理事会を実施いたしました。

We hope this message finds you well. Thank you very much for your continuous support of JASO.
As all you know, many events and meetings are canceled and postponed still now, because of pandemic of Covid-19. With reference to our society, unfortunately, we decided to postpone Field Trip in March and cancel Arlington Cup Horse Race in April. Moreover, as for “Directors’ Meeting, General Meeting and Social Gathering” which are usually held in July, we would like to deal with and manage differently as usual, based on current situation. Therefore, we partially revised an article of association. To protect your health and safety, we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
１．Revision an article of association: the reason of additional revision
How to deal with natural disasters and other extremely difficult reasons is not written in current article of association.
So, we conducted resolution in writing in Temporary Director’s Meeting, based on article 17 of JASO.
We discussed a current article and a revised proposal and got 30 approval out of 31 directors. (1director unanswered)
Therefore, an article of association was revised.
